Question:
It's one thing to get in shape after having a baby, but here you get in shape and have to look like you've been dancing for twenty years.

Well, I hope--it was somebody's bright idea to do it after I had a baby, because I started dancing when I was a kid. I did musical comedy as a teenager and then I stopped. And the lazy Welsh person in me never--I hardly went to the gym, went on the treadmill and stretched a bit, but never to what I used to--the capacity of what I used to, that was part of another life. Never picked up a pair of dance shoes again. Cut two, I'm there, go first day of rehearsals, looking behind me at the best dancers in the world going, "Why am I up in front? Can I go behind the girl, the really good one? She's really pretty, too. I don't want to be up front!" But it took me a long time to get into the swing and in many many--a hot salt bath to ease the pain. And after that the first day of shooting of rehearsals, I wanted to prove, to Rob, that I could actually do it, you know, and of course I went completely over the top and did things that I hadn't warmed up hardly enough to be able to do. So I woke up the next morning, I couldn't walk down the stairs. My heel--it was like my Achilles tendon had shrunk, to this, I could hardly walk. So I had to have a day off. I thought, "Oh great, this is great! They'll really be impressed with me to do one day and then I'm asking for a day off!" |
